my thesis is on efficiency improvement of a coal fired power plant using a gas turbine- basically turning it into a CCP-plant (combined cylce power plant). hence i am turning into an engineer :worker:

ah yes its interesting thing. It isn't the cleanest power source but improving the efficiency is always a good thing. Maybe your improvement also can be adjusted to a number of other thermal energy sources.
I got instantly some ideas about possible improvements of sterling engines as I read your answer :-) As I am no engineer I can not say it will improve the efficiency but maybe reduce some common problems the design have in general, like gas-tightness.
Do you know if there was one time a steam engine train that too use a turbine? I remember I read something about a long time ago. Maybe it was only a prototype build somewhere between 1850 and 1950 in the USA or maybe England.
